Freshers like Jyoti Sirawag and even experienced professionals in the food processing industry are facing challenges of low pay, and fewer opportunities. It's high time that companies recognize the value freshers bring, beyond just their degrees. Students need to know whether the domain they are choosing, will give them the opportunity to grow and thrive. I fear if the market does not recognize the value food technologists bring to the table, soon enough we will be seeing fewer enrollments in food science and technology colleges across India.
