New chooks, full rain tanks & big plans ahead for the homestead

This time on Patchwork Farm we introduce the winged members of the family (our chickens) and show you how we're learning to care for them by doing (and getting a few things wrong along the way). It's been a cold, wet couple of weeks, and we're not complaining. There's something deeply satisfying about watching the dams replenish, and the tanks fill right up to overflowing after a dry stretch. Plenty of nature to soak in this episode. We're still working full-time while we build this place, so progress comes in patches. We share a few short-term updates on the solar, the shedding, and the veggie garden, and talk through some of the bigger greenfield plans we're dreaming up, such as extending the kitchen and dining area, and adding some much-needed storage. If you've ever thought about leaving the city, starting a homestead, keeping chickens, or just living a little more simply and closer to nature, pull up a chair.
