If you want to join us send me a friend request with a message at / joey1459 Body Beast vs P90X Review Today was Day 2 of week 5 (I say week 6 but I got confused and I'm actually in week 5) and I was supposed to do Bulk: Legs. I started the program at 205 lbs. I'm 5'11 and looking at other people's Before pictures and stats from Body Beast, most people were between 160-185 lbs. I'm a P90X graduate, a Team Beachbody Coach, and have a background in Physical Education. I've been eating about 2000 calories a day, give or take. The Body Beast program recommends that I eat about 3500 to 3800 calories a day to gain weight. In the past creating a calorie deficit was enough for me to lose weight but what I'm finding in this program that creating a calorie deficit alone is not enough to lose weight. This program is missing elements that allow for you to lose weight. Body Beast is NOT a weight lose program. It is a muscle building, strengthening gaining, body fat shredding program. But P90X wasn't designed for people to lose weight either but you are seeing people lose weight with P90X. The reason is that Body Beast is your traditional Weight Lifting program with it's promise to help your gain weight, get bigger and stronger. P90X is designed to increase fall around fitness and athletic performance. With P90X your are working out mutliple muscle groups in one workout program. DVD's like Chest & Back, Shoulders & Arms, Legs & Back, Chest, Shoulders & Tris, Back & Bis plus you have more cardio workouts. 4 if you consider Yoga to be a stretch (get it) as a cardio workout. P90X Cardio has Plyometrics, Kenpo X and even Legs & Back. Any time you exercise and get your legs involved you are burning way more calories. Body Best you are isolating and focusing on single Muscle Groups. You have a solo workout for your Chest, your back, your legs, your shoulder and your arms. You are definitely pumped and get stronger from these workouts but you're just not burning the calories like you do with P90X. My main goal with Body Beast was to finish the 90 day program but I don't want to finish it and be 220 lbs. So I'm making some adjustments to help me burn more calories, fire up my legs and create a longer thermogenic calorie burn. For the month of December and the remaining BULK phase I'll be replacing Body Beast Legs with P90X Legs and Back. I'll also replace Body Beast Cardio with P90X Plyometrics. This will increase my legs workout by a half hour on those days. I'll continue with the Body Beast program upper body lifting schedule as it is written. At the end of December, if I have gained more weight I will be switching programs. I hope that by adding Plyo X and Legs and Back from P90X and replacing those Body Beast workouts, I'll lose more body fat, increase my cardio conditioning, and lose some weight. I look forward to updating you in 4 weeks. Thanks for watching.
