Why I Stopped Believing “You Can Learn a Language in 3 Months”
I’m Japanese and live in Tokyo. / ray__in__japan In this video, I talk about what it really takes to learn a skill — whether it’s English or jazz guitar. I started both later than most people, and I learned that there’s no shortcut, no “three-month method,” and no single perfect way to improve. Everyone has a different background, talent level, and pace. Learning takes time, consistency, and a lot of quantity in the beginning — because beginners don’t know what “quality practice” is yet. If you keep going and genuinely enjoy the skill, quantity will eventually turn into quality. Talent helps, but many talented people quit. What matters most is staying consistent and doing what you love.
