Laptop tot nach falschem Netzteil? So finde ich den Fehler (Medion Gaming Notebook)

https://www.smartronik-repair.de/ A Medion gaming laptop suddenly became completely dead after being connected to the wrong power supply – no LEDs, no display, no response. In this video, I show step by step how I measured the current draw, located the fault in the input path, and ultimately found and replaced a defective MOSFET on the motherboard. First, I used a simple wattmeter to check if the laptop was drawing any power from the power supply at all. Since there was practically 0 watts when the power supply was plugged in, it was clear: the problem was directly in the power input. Next, I disassembled the device, briefly explained the layout with the CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, and power stages, and traced the 19.5-volt rail from the charging port through coils, MOSFETs, and shunt resistors to the power management IC. First, I checked whether the laptop was drawing any power from the power supply at all. Under the microscope, I measured the components in diode and pass-through modes and discovered a MOSFET with a hard short circuit between drain and source. I desoldered the chip using hot air, rechecked the measurements, and replaced it with an identical MOSFET. Then I tested the power consumption: The laptop charged the battery again and drew significantly more power during operation—just as expected. Finally, I cleaned the cooling system, removed dust from the cooling fins, reapplied the thermal paste (Arctic MX4) to the CPU and GPU, and reassembled everything according to the manufacturer's instructions. After switching it on, the Medion laptop displayed the logo, Windows login screen, and ran perfectly normally. If you have a laptop that seems "dead" or won't start after using the wrong power adapter, you'll find a link to my repair service, including shipping instructions, in the description. Finally, I cleaned the cooling system, removed dust from the cooling fins, reapplied the thermal paste (Arctic MX4) to the CPU and GPU, and reassembled everything according to the manufacturer's instructions.
