At the PTA, Rita (Barbara Knox) flirts with Ken (Bill Roache) to irritate Wilfred Perkins (Wensley Pithey). Perkins later warns her that the unsavoury gossip about her and Ken is having a negative effect on the school’s morale. Maggie decides to go to London after all. Jerry (Graham Haberfield) informs Billy (Kenneth Farrington) that Hilda (Jean Alexander) will need to get planning permission if she wants to keep the porch that Archie (John Stratton) is building for No.13. Rita goes to meet her real date, who is revealed to be none other than Len (Peter Adamson)!
