Who Longs More: Women or Men? The words “longing” and “yearning” have become mainstays in our recent conversation with men. Strange - these are terms you find in Rumi’s mystic poetry, or in femininity goddess work, not the male dating arena. But here we have it: men owning their longing for relationship, and all the poetic wisdom that the longing itself contains. At the same time, more men than ever are voicing their discomfort with terms like “certainty” and “conviction”. These are classic ‘masculine qualities’. Sure, it’s dicey to claim certainty and conviction over anything in today’s world… but will any great love affair take off if both parties are restricted to yearning, and neither embodies a bit of conviction about their feelings?
