For nearly 20 years, in a Calabrian city, a 'Ndrangheta war has claimed its lives one by one, amidst the silence of Italy as a whole. A war reconstructed over thirty years later by the Cosenza Court of Assizes, presided over by Judge Maria Antonietta Onorati, in the Missing maxi-trial. 📌 WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER IN THIS LESSON: In this video, I reconstruct—through the documents from the Missing maxi-trial, the Garden ruling, and the statements of 21 collaborators of justice—the story of the transformation of the Cosenza underworld: from a gang of common criminals to a fully-fledged mafia structure, traversed by two bloody wars and culminating in a "pax mafiosa" that allowed the clans to make the qualitative leap toward control of major public contracts. We will explore the accounts of Roberto Pagano (the first collaborator, July 1993), Franco Pino (head of the Pinosena clan who collaborated with the justice system from 1995), Francesco Saverio Vitelli and Franco Garofalo (Perna's lieutenants who became collaborators), and Dario and Nicola Notar Giacomo.
