How SpongeBob's Period Pieces Failed

I know these specials are nostalgic and all but they really weren't that great... I watched every episode of Kamp Koral:    • So I Watched Kamp Koral...   I revisited the big three period piece specials from the early days of SpongeBob being Ugh, Dunces and Dragons and Pest of the West and I gotta say they really don't hold up. The problem with these specials is that they don't really do much more than just go "here are the characters in an alternate time period" and it's pretty unfortunate that that is the case because there is so much potential in a good period piece but these specials just refused to engage with that.
