VIRGINIA FONTES: ARE THERE CHANCES FOR A REVOLUTIONARY LEFT? - 20 Minutes Interview The founder of Opera Mundi, Breno Altman, interviewed philosopher and historian Virginia Fontes on this Thursday's (July 28th) 20 MINUTES INTERVIEW. Fontes outlined the formation of an anti-fascist and anti-capitalist front within the broad coalition supporting Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's candidacy as a revolutionary perspective for Brazil in 2022. Only this initiative could combat the protagonism of the dominant classes within the Lula-Alckmin ticket, in her assessment: “It's not enough to believe in the same bourgeoisie that staged a coup six years ago and supported Jair Bolsonaro four years ago. It is fundamental, even to sustain a PT government, to have a left-wing force that hasn't lost its anti-capitalist and revolutionary character, knowing that we are not in a revolutionary moment.” A revolutionary left must socialize this confrontation with the population and "re-enter the educational struggle to remove the bourgeoisies from public schools and the Unified Health System," she states. "This confrontation will not be done from above."
