IL SENTIERO DEI LIMONI a Tignale | Cascate di Aer e Santuario di Monte Castello

Tignale is more than just a balcony overlooking Lake Garda. It's a place where the mountain has been transformed. Where someone decided, centuries ago, to cultivate the sun. In this circular hike, we begin from the historic Limonaia di Prà de la Fam to follow the famous Sentiero dei Limoni (Lemon Trail), suspended high above Lake Garda. We'll pass through ancient villages, silent forests, and the spectacular Aer Waterfalls, until we climb the crest of Monte Cas and reach the imposing Sanctuary of Monte Castello, one of the most evocative places on the entire lake. A 17-kilometer itinerary with over 1,000 meters of elevation gain, combining history, nature, panoramas, and spirituality. Itinerary Description The trail begins near the Limonaia di Prà de la Fam, following the CAI 260 signs. The route is spectacular, entirely overlooking Lake Garda, and equipped with ropes in the most exposed or delicate sections. At the first fork in the road, take the CAI 265 trail on the left toward Aer. Once you reach the hamlet of Aer, follow the signs for the Sentiero delle Cascate (also CAI 265), taking care along some exposed sections, until you reach a dirt road. Turn right along Via Castagneto, back toward Aer. After passing Casale di Pigol, follow the signs for Monte Cas. Take the scenic Via Monte Baldo near Olzano until you reach the Tignalga road. Turn left and shortly after, take the trail to Monte Cas on the right. Once you reach the crest, follow the spectacular panoramic trail overlooking Lake Garda to the summit cross and the majestic Sanctuary of Monte Castello. After the visit, we quickly descend towards Gardola, pass through the village of Oldesio, and rejoin the Sentiero dei Limoni (Lemon Trail) towards Prà de la Fam, which takes us back to the starting point in about an hour.
