On Wednesday morning (8), two civil police officers were shot while carrying out an investigation operation in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. One of the officers was shot in the head and is hospitalized in critical condition at the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital, located in Realengo. He underwent emergency surgery. The other policewoman who was with him suffered a leg injury and is not in life-threatening condition. The white police car used by the officers did not have official civil police identification. Two other police officers were also present in the vehicle during the attack. After the incident, the civil police initiated an immediate response, even using helicopters to fly over the region and make arrests. Due to the armed confrontation and subsequent operations by the security forces, 36 bus lines had their routes temporarily altered.
