ORHF Holiday Express 2023 | feat. Polson 2 & UP 96

During the holiday season of 2023, the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation hosted their annual Holiday Express train rides out of the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in southeast Portland. The trains ran along Oregon Pacific Railroad trackage between Portland and Sellwood, a distance of approx. 4 miles one way. Polson Logging Co. 2-8-2 steam locomotive #2 was called upon to pull the Christmas-themed consist, with ex-Union Pacific SW10 diesel #96 trailing on the rear. The trains were run in push-pull, with the steam locomotive leading the outbound trip to Sellwood and the diesel leading on the return. The skies were sunny, holiday spirits were high, and both locomotives put on a great show hauling trainloads of happy passengers along the Willamette River. - Filmed between Nov. 25th and Dec. 17th, 2023.
