The Walk - EP 41 - Whitby & Pickering Railway - The Original Route - North Yorkshire Moors

In the third instalment of our Yorkshire weekend, myself and Phil at at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. But instead of riding on the heritage line, we're walking the original route of the Whitby and Pickering Railway. Built in 1836, the original horse drawn line was the brain child of George Stephenson, to connect the quarries and mines to the coast. The Beckhole incline became a problem for locomotives and so in the 1860s, it was scrapped and replaced by a new line, the one you can enjoy today. But the original line has plenty left to see. *Made some merch for the railway fans like myself.
