Builders of Bhutan Episode 3 - Michael Rutland in conversation with Lyonpo Dago Tshering Lyonpo Dago Tshering is a distinguished Bhutanese diplomat and former government official, renowned for his significant contributions to strengthening Bhutan's international relations, particularly with Japan. He served as Bhutan's Minister of Home Affairs from 1991 to 1998, a period during which he also held the position of Commissioner of Cultural Affairs. From 1999 to 2008, Lyonpo Dago Tshering served as Bhutan's Ambassador to Japan, In 2022, he became the first Bhutanese national to be awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, one of Japan's highest honors, for his outstanding contributions to international relations.
