Let's get back to work on another day here on the farm, folks! 🤝👍🙏👫 In today's video, we went to the pigsty to show our entire routine with the pigs and have a very honest discussion about a topic many people have questions about: is it worth raising pigs these days? Guilherme started by grinding the corn to make that fresh cornmeal and showed our feed ratio (3 to 1 with concentrate) that we use for the four pigs that are being fattened (two females and two males). We also showed how our herd is doing: the white sow we're waiting to see if she's pregnant, the other one that's already pregnant, our new boar (Lucão!), and an update on the old boar. In addition, Guilherme shows the fat sow that's ready for slaughter. And to finish, Guilherme put everything down on paper! We did the real calculations of how much is spent on feed from gestation to weaning of piglets, and we explain the difference between the profit from selling piglets and the challenge of fattening them for slaughter.
