TRANSLATION IN ENGLISH: The city of Sabaudia was the second city of the Agro-Pontino area after Littoria, today Latin, to be reclaimed by the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini. The foundation stone was laid on 5 August 1933 and the city was subsequently inaugurated as we said before on 15 April 1934 in the presence of about twenty thousand people. The urban plan for the construction of the city was entrusted to the National Combatant Opera, which was directly headed by the Fascist party. The plan consisted in importing entire families mainly with experience in the agricultural sector from northern Italy, later these people would then have contributed to populating the territories becoming radicalized over the years. Thus it was that several settlers mainly from Veneto and Friuli left their lands and moved to the less hospitable and marshy areas that formed these Italian areas at that time. The settlers who immigrated to the Pontine lands did so on a voluntary basis, and did so in exchange for a plot of land on which it was possible to build a farm and have their own arable land for the sustenance of their families. It must also be said that all this was not free of charge, but had a well-defined process, and structured to ensure that part of the proceeds arrived directly in the coffers of the regime. The reclamation work was a success, the hard work of the settlers combined with the great planning and planning of the engineers and technicians finally allowed after years and years of failed attempts, to make these lands hospitable through a system of high engineering for the innovative era formed by water suction pumps and a network of canals that discharge directly into the sea. This system was so good that it has remained virtually unchanged to this day. the city of Sabaudia over the years has also been populated by people from other cities of Lazio and the countryside, and like many other cities built in the Fascist era, it is a clear example of rationalist architecture strongly desired by the Duce. nowadays the city has become an important tourist destination with a wonderful sea and lots of unspoiled nature and we owe it all, it must be said to the sacrifice and sense of responsibility of people who, in search of a better life, have left their countries and many sometimes even their loved ones for the collective good of our nation. The information for making the video was collected from the web and from people who lived in that period who told me their story. IF YOU LIKED THE VIDEO, SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL. THANK YOU.
