A court ruling brought tears to a driver's eyes after he was left disabled after an oncoming truck veered into his lane and rammed his car, and he was found guilty. We previously reported on this strange story – the accident occurred in December 2022. In the Semenovsky district, a truck collided with a Hyundai passenger car on the highway. The truck, whose driver lost control, then veered into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Volkswagen. The Volkswagen driver was in a coma for a long time, but miraculously regained consciousness and survived. For a year and a half, he has been hospitalized almost exclusively – he is disabled, barely able to walk. Moreover, the miraculously surviving driver was not even recognized as a victim – he was first a witness, and then became a defendant. Although the truck driver, a Volgograd resident, was immediately found to have narcotics in his system, strangely enough, nine months after the accident, a report was filed stating that the Volkswagen driver was drunk at the time of the accident. A case was opened, and in December 2023, Ivan Gubarev was tried, stripped of his license, and fined. According to the Volkswagen driver's lawyer, who reviewed the case, the original documents on which the alcohol intoxication charge is based are missing; for some reason, only copies exist. However, the court revoked his driver's license and fined him. Ivan Gubarev, outraged that he was not only not recognized as a victim but also turned from a witness into a defendant, filed a petition to appeal the court's decision. I emphasize that for Ivan Gubarev, given his condition, a license is of little importance—he is disabled and physically unable to drive. He wants justice.
