Obey Even If It Sounds Dangerous? How JWs Are Trained to Listen to the Governing Body | 58-Year Survivor. I was born a fourth-generation Jehovah's Witness and believed it was the truth for 58 years. This religion tore my family apart. For most of my life, I would never have believed they used cult tactics. I only saw it clearly after I got free, after reading the Bible in context for myself, and after learning about behavior control techniques. What I discovered is deeply alarming: they completely switch serving Jehovah with serving the Governing Body. I'm reviewing a recent morning worship talk as a perfect example of how it's done. You think you are hearing "obey Jehovah," but they keep comparing the Israelites under Moses to us today — and then place the Governing Body in that same position. Loyalty to Jehovah is demonstrated by loyalty to them. Now the language is intensifying. They are repeatedly reinforcing the message to listen and obey — even if the instructions may sound unusual or dangerous. That should alarm every thinking person. As hard as it is to hear, they are using cult tactics. They employ the BITE model (Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotional control) almost to a tee, and in doing so, they are deceiving over 8 million people. This is not just about exposing false teachers. Many of us still have family and friends inside who fully believe them and are ready to obey any instruction they are given.
