The fastest route from Nagoya to Kofu is the Chuo Line, so taking the Shinano to Shiojiri and the Azusa from Shiojiri would naturally seem the fastest, but it's also possible to get from Nagoya to Kofu by taking the Shinkansen Hikari straight to Shizuoka and transferring to the Fujikawa Limited Express. However, while this Shizuoka transfer route is incredibly fast to Shizuoka, the Minobu Line, on which the Fujikawa runs, is incredibly slow, in total, the Shinkansen's speed is offset by the Fujikawa's slowness.
