BAD ICE on Landing: Worse than I thought! | Pilot Vlog | RNAV Approach Kelowna Airport CYLW

MODERATE ICE encountered on this RNAV approach into Kelowna airport. These super moist cumulus clouds on approach were holding quite a bit of moisture and that means trouble for any aircraft without anti ice capability! Being an IFR pilot means that you have to deal with all kinds of different weather conditions. However, after 15 years of flying, icing conditions still make me nervous, especially at night. Thankfully, this approach is during the day and the airport is reporting good weather on the ground. The challenge is making sure that the aircraft systems are working properly to shed the ice off so that it doesn't cause problems upon landing.
