Deal, Kent | Whiting, Flatfish & A Seal-Bitten Catch! 28th October 2025

After our busy night at Hampton Beach, we decided to play it safe and head down to Deal for a session out of the wind. It turned out to be a decent call — a calm, sunny day with steady fishing and plenty of bites to keep us on our toes. The catch report was mostly whiting again (a few of which came home for another batch of fish cakes 😋), but Connor added a couple of pouting and between us we had a handful of small flatfish too. Nothing massive, but good fun all the same. One of Connor’s fish had clearly had a rough day — it had been chewed up by a seal before he reeled it in! To top it off, we met a lovely family on the beach whose two daughters held a fish for the first time. Always great seeing kids take an interest in angling — gives you hope for the future of the sport. It was just one of those relaxed, easy-going sessions — a bit of sun, steady bites, and time well spent with my boy. Also, a quick mention about our previous video from Hampton Beach — we got a comment from someone who clearly took things a bit too seriously. He wrote: “Oh dear, excited about whiting 🫣 Don’t people realise in match fishing this time of year you’ll need 60 or 70 sizable whiting to get in the top 3.” Yes mate, that’s true — if you’re match fishing. We’re not. We’re just a father and son who enjoy getting out, filming a few sessions, and sharing them with people who like watching normal anglers have a go. No trophies, no pressure — just fishing and fresh air.
