Murujuga Cultural Landscape - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Murujuga Cultural Landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the Burrup Peninsula in the Pilbara region of north western Australia. There's an estimated one million petroglyphs (rock carvings) here, with a variety of subjects including human figures, spiritual and religious carvings, and of course thousands of animals as well. It's a fascinating example of how animal populations in an area change over time, and showcases the genius of the local artists as they refined their techniques over the millennia.
