Willandra Lakes Region - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Williandra Lakes Region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Australia. Located in New South Wales, this World Heritage Area is a Mixed site, important for both cultural and natural reasons. The centrepiece is Lake Mungo National Park, a large dry lake that's home to a spectacular sand dune, called the Lunette. Thanks to the excellent preservation conditions, Lake Mungo is an excellent place for geology and archaeology, and it's where the remains of Mungo Man and Mungo Lady were both discovered. These well-preserved remains are the earliest known humans in Australia, and they revolutionised our understanding of Australian history. Let's go!
