The pelvic floor and breath are interconnected through changes in the body's pressure dynamics. As we breathe in, the abdominal pressure rises and the pelvic floor (along with musculature of the abdomen and low back) must lengthen in response, this is coined as the pelvic floor piston, thank you to Julie Wiebe, PT.
