Alkan choral music: Halelouyoh, Etz chajjim hi (Kentish Opera Singers, Mark Fitz-Gerald)

These recordings are from the Alkan, A Symposium CD from 1992, and are different than the recordings 4candles uploaded (which are from volume 3 of the 2e2m Ensemble set). They are good, and it is interesting to hear Halelouyoh with a piano for the keyboard part. It is quite percussive and is helpful for keeping a choir's rhythm strong. It is also an interesting comparison with the 2e2m recording with organ and my master's degree recital a capella. I hope you enjoy this recording of two choral works by Charles-Valentin Alkan composed for Samuel Naumbourg. They aren't sung often, but aren't very difficult, and are appropriate for a variety of choirs and occasions. Also, I made the score to Halelouyoh that you see here! It is on IMSLP.
