The Hokitika Shunt and the Tranzalpine
Back in April I spent a night in Hokitika and decided to chase the Hokitika shunt. It's a small once a day shunt. Despite the line only being 40km the shunt can sometimes over an hour to reach Greymouth. Sections of the line are very bumpy and you can see the wagons bounce around. On the way back I followed the Tranzalpine to see the new kitchen carriage. Also learned that it is hard to chase as the rail has a more direct route. I hope you enjoy!
