Today we took them to eat the best grilled steak we've ever had! For our last day in Mar del Plata, we went to lunch at El Palacio del Bife, one of the most well-known restaurants when it comes to grilled meat. We ordered a sirloin steak and a chorizo steak, and what a surprise! First, we couldn't believe the size of the steak—you don't get huge portions like these anywhere else! The steak was also tender and juicy, with such a rich flavor that we didn't even need the chimichurri. We paired the steak with eggplant napolitana, a Malbec wine, and for dessert, a cheese and dessert plate (pumpkin, sweet potato, and fig), and a portion of dulce de leche. It was a meal we'll never forget! And on top of that, the service was impeccable. At the end of lunch, they surprised us with limoncello, complimentary. 🥩✨ Epic Lunch in Mar del Plata: Argentine Beef, Side Dishes, and Traditional Sweets 🍷🇦🇷 🚶‍♂️🌞 Last Day in Mar del Plata and a Stroll along San Martín Pedestrian Street We started our last day in Mar del Plata under a completely blue sky, taking advantage of the sun to stroll along San Martín Pedestrian Street, a vibrant area full of people, theaters, and nightlife. The atmosphere invites you to walk, observe the locals, and enjoy the typical summer hustle and bustle of the city. 🥩🍷 Lunch at El Palacio del Bife: Argentine Barbecue at its Finest Samuel found the ideal place for our farewell: El Palacio del Bife. We ordered a Malbec red wine from Mendoza, perfect for pairing with the meat. The table opens with baskets of fresh bread, breadsticks, slices of cheese, and butter. The star of the meal: sirloin steak and chorizo steak. Giant portions, impressive thickness, cooked to perfection, and that wood-fired, Argentine beef flavor that wins over even the most discerning chef. We praised the quality of the meat: tender, juicy, with just a hint of salt and no need for extra sauces (although the chimichurri and Creole sauce, with tomato, onion, and bell peppers, were spectacular). 🧀🍆 Side Dishes: Eggplant Neapolitan Style To accompany the meat, we chose eggplant Neapolitan style: Four generous pieces, au gratin with ham, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. The side dish menu was so tempting (creamed chard, potatoes in all their forms...) that we had to control our urge and choose just one. 🍮🍠 Traditional Dessert: Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, and Cheese + Dulce de Leche We couldn't resist dessert: we ordered a mixed dessert to share: A portion of sweet potato and cheese, pumpkin in syrup, and, as an extra, a spoonful of dulce de leche. We were surprised by the flavor of the pumpkin, so sweet it was almost like a cake. The final touch: the house limoncello, sweet and sour, perfect for rounding off an unforgettable lunch. 🛋️☀️ Siesta and Relaxing Afternoon at the Apartment After such a feast, we returned to the Airbnb to enjoy the terrace and the sun. A siesta was obligatory; we ate so much that there was leftover food for dinner! We brought the leftover steak and eggplant for dinner later. 💰📊 Prices and Recommendations We always share prices to help other travelers: The full lunch (two premium cuts, a side dish, wine, dessert, bread, and limoncello) cost 1,735 Argentine pesos (~$45 USD). Excellent value, huge portions, and first-class service.
