Making a Wooden Surfboard

I've always wanted to make a wood surfboard with my dad. I finally set aside some time and got in the shop with my dad to dream one up. We decided redwood was less expensive than balsa and lighter than most other woods and looked pretty nice. We learned a lot making this first one. I wanted to attempt to make something that could surf so we chambered the inside. I quickly became award of how heavy wood really is. The chambering with this wood was just not enough to remove enough weight to make it reasonable to surf. The next few will probably be a little different, but this one was a lot of fun to make and hang on my wall haha. My dad had the idea for some different stringers.
