I Built a Surfboard From a Cactus

Most surfboards are built from Polyurethane/EPS Foam and Polyester Resin. This one tries to do things differently. In this build, I shape a 5'8 retro fish using an agave wood core — a fast-growing, low-impact alternative to traditional polyurethane blanks — and finish it with a pair of keel fins compression moulded from sheep's wool. It's not a perfect solution. But it's a more considered one. If you're interested in the fins, I make recycled wool and fibreglass fins through my brand Hold Fin Co. — link below. www.holdfin.co www.whitburnsurfboards.co.uk
