La Virgen de la Guía brilla más que nunca

With a renewed appearance following the restoration carried out by the heritage service of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Virgin of the Guide has today more than ever lived up to her song: "She is a beautiful woman, she is the light of my soul, she is the Virgin of the Guide, who resides in Portugalete." The statue dates from the late 17th or early 18th century; the origins of the celebration are unknown, but what is certain is that this festival, the most important for the people of Portugalete, is more vibrant than ever and has a bright future ahead, as the new generations of locals are already taking up the mantle, both in the children's procession and carrying the Virgin in the main procession.
