Sustainability according to Confartigianato? It's inclusion, equity, intelligent adaptation, a business driver, the ability to bridge tradition and innovation. But so much more, in the name of a broad, profound, and original vision in which artisans and small businesses are custodians of the future. This vision emerged from the fourth edition of the Forum "INCLUSIVE SUSTAINABILITY: Territories that protect, people who share, ideas that innovate," organized on June 25 and 26 in Rome. For Confartigianato, sustainability isn't just about adopting cutting-edge technologies or compiling cold registers of indicators, but developing a genuine ability to guide the daily actions and behaviors of businesses and individuals to manage major transitions within a changing and unstable economic and geopolitical context. The Confederation's strategic objective is to ensure that development preserves generative territories and habitable spaces, without ever severing the identity, manufacturing tradition, and values ​​of social cohesion that make the distributed enterprise system recognizable. The two-day event was led and coordinated by Bruno Panieri, Director of Economic Policies for the Confederation, and Carlo Piccinato, Coordinator of Confartigianato Sustainable Enterprises. Confartigianato President Marco Granelli delivered a message free of rhetoric, combining economic pragmatism and social responsibility: sustainability must necessarily go hand in hand with competitiveness. Confartigianato's efforts are to provide its member entrepreneurs with all the knowledge and training necessary to navigate this complex historical phase, addressing critical issues with the optimism needed to elevate the quality of products and services. For Granelli, the costs and sacrifices of the green and digital transition must not fall disproportionately on the shoulders of micro and small businesses or the most vulnerable regions, since sustainability must be seen as a concrete opportunity accessible to all, never as an elite privilege. This strong push for equity was reiterated by Carlo Piccinato, who highlighted how the concept of inclusive sustainability is inextricably linked to social justice. Piccinato noted, for example, that ongoing climate change is hitting the poorest populations and the most vulnerable businesses hardest. According to the coordinator of Confartigianato Imprese Sostenibili, however, artisan businesses are demonstrating in the field that they are remarkably ahead of the public and political debate, as for them sustainability has already become a concrete and immediate business lever, capable of responding to the explicit and pressing demands of increasingly attentive and demanding consumers.
