Building A Log Cabin | Ep. 14 | Building a rustic porch frame with logs from our land

Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey! In this episode we finish the framed structure that will support our screened-in porch. We built it entirely from logs that we harvested from our land. We notched out the connection points using a saw, hammer, and chisel so that the braces can fit perfectly into the posts and beams. The connections were secured using either 6" or 8" nails. The next step will be to place a 2nd layer of logs on which we will build our first floor.
