To commemorate the 344th anniversary of Bandar Lampung City, officials from the Bandar Lampung City Government held a pilgrimage and wreath-laying ceremony at the Heroes' Cemetery on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The wreath-laying ceremony honored the heroes who fought for independence and national development. The Mayor, accompanied by several officials, also laid flowers at the graves of other heroes. This pilgrimage was part of a series of events commemorating the 344th anniversary of Bandar Lampung City in 2026, which carried the theme "With the Spirit of a Shining Bandar Lampung, We Realize a Golden Indonesia." In addition to the Mayor, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), heads of regional government agencies (OPD), and community leaders were present, dressed in traditional Lampung attire. They solemnly participated in the procession amidst the light rain. This pilgrimage to the heroes' cemetery served as a moment to commemorate the service of our predecessors and strengthen our collective resolve to continue the development of Bandar Lampung City. As mandated in the anniversary ceremony, this commemoration reminds us that the city's current progress is the result of the hard work and dedication of our predecessors, which must be continuously maintained. The 344th anniversary celebrations of Bandar Lampung also included various other activities, including flag ceremonies, community service, and a development exhibition to foster the spirit of "Bandar Lampung Bersinar" (Shining Bandar Lampung) towards a Golden Indonesia 2045. Mayor Eva Dwiana stated that the pilgrimage to the heroes' graves was held to commemorate the services of the heroes who fought for Bandar Lampung. "Hopefully, we can continue the heroes' struggle to make Bandar Lampung a metropolitan city and a city remembered by the public," she said. Eva also had a special message for young men and women, or Gen Z, to emulate the spirit of the heroes. "These heroes have given their best for us, especially Bandar Lampung. Our task now is to continue their struggle," she said. This pilgrimage was part of a series of events commemorating the 344th anniversary of Bandar Lampung City in 2026, with the theme "With the Spirit of Shining Bandar Lampung, We Realize a Golden Indonesia." The event took place solemnly, despite the light rain. All participants wore traditional Lampung attire as a sign of respect for the city's cultural and historical values.
