Tributes Continue for Dr. GUY SCOTT

By Honester Mshoka Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA has described former Vice-President Dr. GUY SCOTT as a principled and selfless leader whose public service was guided by the national interest. Speaking after signing the book of condolence in Lusaka, Mr. KAWANA said Dr. SCOTT will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and commitment to ensuring the country's resources were managed for the benefit of all Zambians. He said Dr. SCOTT made a lasting contribution to Zambia's development, and that his dedication to public service will remain part of the country's history. Mr. KAWANA called on political leaders to draw lessons from Dr. SCOTT's leadership, saying his patriotism, humility and commitment to national development should inspire both current and future generations. Meanwhile, political activist DANTE SAUNDERS described D. SCOTT as a patriotic leader who devoted his life to serving Zambians and advancing national development. Mr. SAUNDERS said Dr. SCOTT championed equality and inclusiveness, adding that his contribution to the country's development should continue to inspire future generations. He urged young people to follow Dr. SCOTT's example, saying politics should be driven by a commitment to public service rather than personal interests. Mr. SAUNDERS also said Dr. SCOTT will be remembered for defending the rights of citizens and upholding the spirit of "One Zambia, One Nation". In a separate tribute, Economic Front President WYNTER KABIMBA described Dr. SCOTT as a selfless leader who consistently placed the interests of Zambians above his own. Mr. KABIMBA said Dr. SCOTT served the country with loyalty and dedication and remained a trusted ally of the late President MICHAEL SATA throughout his time in government. He said Dr. SCOTT treated people with humility and respect regardless of their political affiliation or social standing. Mr. KABIMBA further said Dr. SCOTT's legacy of service, integrity and commitment to national unity will continue to inspire future generations of Zambian leaders.
