Subscribe to the Aipo YouTube channel to stay updated - Newsletter No. 21 of May 29, 2026 Phenological phase: The olive groves in the area are in full bloom, with the warmest sites already experiencing petal fall and the first signs of fruit set. Flowering is appearing uniform. Fruit set is a delicate phase and depends on the availability of key nutrients. It is important to ensure: Potassium: essential for the formation and growth of young drupes. Calcium: improves fruit quality and reduces early fruit drop. Magnesium: essential for photosynthesis and chlorophyll stability. The soil has a good level of moisture and no symptoms of water stress are observed. Plant protection Olive moth: traps indicate a limited presence of adults. The anthophagous generation is in decline, and no risks to flowering are expected. Olive moth: sporadic presence. In the case of localized infestations, treatment can only be carried out at the end of flowering with white oils or Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki, to be applied during the cool hours. Olive thrips: Infestations are generally low. In the case of evident damage, natural pyrethrins, white oils, or copper can be used, which helps limit the spread of the pest. Peppercorn scale: The population is in the egg-laying phase; the numbers are still limited. Specific interventions will be more effective when mobile nymphs emerge. Further information will be provided in future bulletins. Olive vine weevil: In young plants, especially where new tender shoots are present, leaf erosion is possible. If necessary, apply rock wool collars to the trunk and supports to prevent the adults from climbing. Olive fly: Those intending to adopt mass trapping methods (FLYPACK, DAKOFAKA, etc.) can begin purchasing traps and have them available in mid-June. Fungal Pests Peacock Spot, Leprosy, Cercosporiosis The conditions of recent weeks have created only two brief windows favorable to peacock spot (May 11 and 15–16). Currently, the risk is low, thanks to stable weather and rapid drying of the foliage. After flowering and the start of fruit set, you can resume the use of copper (oxychloride, hydroxide, tribasic), or maintain protection with Bacillus subtilis QST 713, or use pyraclostrobin (e.g., Cabrio WG), which is effective on both leaves and young fruit. Always follow the instructions on the label. Tel. 045 8678260 @aipoverona Subscribe to the Aipo YouTube channel to stay updated -
