INSANE CHASE! Nissan GTR Takes The Georgia State Patrol On 175MPH Pursuit!

On 02/03/2024 AT approximately 0246 hours, I (TFC Mathews) and MCO Sturdivan were patrolling GA 400 south bound just south of Lenox Road when we observed a gray Nissan GTR (GA tag: P5188729) and a Dodge Charger with an unknown tag, racing side by side in an exhibition of speed. I attempted a vehicle stop on both vehicles, but the driver of the Nissan GTR accelerated, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit continued on GA 400 south and onto -85 south bound where the Nissan was observed operating in an extremely reckless manner at speeds that reached 168 miles per hour at times as it passed other motorists. The pursuit continued onto the I-75/85 south bound connector where I attempted to terminate the pursuit with a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver, but a bystander's vehicle got in the way of the path of where the Nissan would have traveled so after making contact with the vehicle, I had to break said contact to avoid causing a collision. The driver exited onto the C&D lanes near CW Grant Pkwy and then exited onto I-285 west bound where it reached a high speed of 175 miles per hour as it approached Riverdale Road under the runway tunnel. The pursuit continued then onto I-85 south bound towards Union City. The driver began driving on the shoulder of the roadway to pass slower traffic. I then began having vehicle issues and had to terminate the pursuit due to a flat tire. Troop C Communications relayed the vehicle information to Union City Police. It was then determined that the Nissan had exited onto SR 138, where it struck a raised median, disabling the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Union City Police observed a vehicle matching the description parked behind a gas station near the exit with three males walking away into the gas station. Union City P.D. made contact with the occupants and detained them until I was able to change my tire and meet at the gas station. One of the occupants (Patrick Le), the registered owner, admitted to being t he driver and was placed into custody without further incident. Le displayed multiple manifestations consistent with alcohol impairment such as blood shot watery eyes, thick speech, the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as well as the admission to consuming alcoholic beverages while at Moon Dogs Café in Buckhead. Le was read his Georgia Implied Consent Notice for Suspects age 21 or over for a blood test and verbally refused. The reading of Implied Consent, Miranda Warnings, and his admissions were audio and video recorded on perm #7513 as well as TFC C. Tierney #883’s back seat camera. The vehicle was impounded by New Image Towing and the driver was transported to the Clayton County Jail. Note: The Nissan GTR displayed two separate VIN numbers. The VIN on the dash read JN1AR5EF7GM290151, which does not return on GCIC/NCIC, and the VIN on the frame of the vehicle read JN1AR5EFXGM290743 which returns to the vehicle/registered owner.
