Pisgah Was Too Remote Heading North to Kentucky | Van Life EP 3

Left South Carolina heading north into the mountains of North Carolina with Pisgah National Forest on the list. The access roads were too remote for where things stand right now with the van. Until the repairs prove they are holding, pushing deep into the backcountry alone is not the play. Wound up at Oconee State Park instead, which turned out to be a familiar place. It sits at the southern trailhead of the Foothills Trail, a 77-mile wilderness route along the Blue Ridge Escarpment that I attempted last year. Good to be back at that starting point even if the trip looked different this time. From there it was a zigzag push north through Tennessee, threading around states that cap overnight rest stop stays at three to four hours. The laws vary but the pattern is the same. Not many good options when you are moving through and just need to sleep. Ended the day in a Walmart parking lot in Georgetown, Kentucky.
