Tour de Corse 1994

Didier Auriol returned to victory, a victory he hadn't achieved since Monte Carlo 1993, in the Toyota 165 St, ahead of a revving Sainz in the Subaru equipped with the new 18" Pirelli tires, which proved to be very effective. Third place went to the excellent Aghini-Farnocchia, also in a Toyota 165 St, but from Team Grifone, who managed to contain their exuberance, perhaps a little slower than they could have been, but with the car intact at the finish. Problems arose for the two Ford Escort Cosworths of Cunico (who retired with brake problems and a subsequent contact) and Thiry (who was testing the sequential gearbox here, which caused him problems). Biasion's performance was a lackluster one, finishing more than 4 minutes behind the winner, while McRae confirmed his reputation by going off the road after his usual explosive start.
