Insane Sabotage of HK 416
Today, We know the HK 416 and MR 556 as a massive success. Over 20 countries across the globe using it with hundreds of thousands made. But in 2004, at the peak of the GWOT, the future was uncertain to say the least. This is the story of the beginnings of the HK 416, the Politics and legacy contracts that nearly ended the Delta Force, AWG and special forces procurement of the legendary HK 416 upon arrival. Special operations showed their preference to the HK 416 5.56 piston rifle over the DI Direct Impingement M4A1 M4 Carbine as early as 2002-2003. Eventually entering in service during early 2004 in time for key battles of the GWOT such as Ramadi and Fallujah. Now used by Navy SEALs, Green Berets and the USMC, the beginning of this story looked grim for the success of this fighting combat carbine.
