Jaco Pastorius Sextet - Mr Phone Bone (Live in Boulder April 21st 1982)
aco Pastorius and his WOM sextet played lots of gigs in North America during 1982. Here's an excerpt from a rare recording of one of them, a great version of Bob Mintzer's "Mr Phone Bone" from their concert in Boulder, Colorado on April the 1st. In contrast to the solo on the much more widely known and filmed version of the same tune from Montreal, Jaco's solo here is full of ideas and not disjointed like its Montreal counterpart. It flows nicely and it doesn't sound like he's trying to "force out" a solo. Musicians: Jaco Pastorius - bass, Bob Mintzer - tenor saxophone, Othello Molineaux - steel drums, Randy Brecker - trumpet, Peter Erskine - drums, Malando Gassama - percussion
