After much delay, Toyota has finally launched the Yaris Cross in Brazil. The compact SUV had been expected for at least five years, since the European version arrived on the market. The model arrives to compete in one of the most competitive segments of the market. The Yaris Cross will have rivals such as the leader Volkswagen T-Cross, as well as the Jeep Renegade, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Caoa Chery Tiggo 5x, Honda HR-V, and the brand-new WR-V. This is without mentioning the Nivus and Fastback coupes. The Toyota Yaris Cross will be offered in four versions divided into two trim levels: XRE and XRX, with combustion and hybrid options. Pre-sale prices are: Yaris Cross XRE: R$ 161,390 Yaris Cross XRX: R$ 172,390 Yaris Cross XRE Hybrid: R$ 178,990 Yaris Cross XRE Hybrid: R$ 189,990 They will be equipped with a 1.5-liter (naturally aspirated with direct injection) engine producing 122 hp and 15.3 kgfm of torque, combined with a D-CVT automatic transmission, with seven-speed simulation via paddle shifters on the steering wheel. There is also a hybrid version, which combines a 1.5-liter (Atkinson cycle) engine producing 91 hp and 12.3 kgfm of torque, combined with an electric motor producing 80 hp and 14.4 kgfm of torque.
