Historic footage from the 1992 Northern California Federation of Fly Fishermen conclave features some of California's best-known fly tyers demonstrating their fly-tying skills. Most of you won't know who they are, but they represent pioneers in the world of fly tying. Remember, this was when video was getting its start and made it possible to film fly-tying demonstrations and present close-up views of the tying in a theater setting. As technology has advanced, the same thing can now be done with cell phones, delivering incredible sound and clarity. But this is where fly-tying grew from these passionate fly tyers.
