Lake Isabelle-High Alpine Beauty-Indian Peaks Wilderness-Day Hike

On June 6, 2026 We hiked to Lake Isabelle in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. We started from the Gateway Parking Lot and took the Waldrop Trail to Brainard lake. Then connected to the Niwot Trail and circled Long Lake from the south side. Don't go this way if you're planning on hiking here in the next few weeks. It's still holding onto snow and there is lots of deep mud. It took us forever to loop around to the junction to head up to Lake Isabelle. Not much snow heading up there, no spikes needed. Lake Isabelle was prettier than I remembered, especially from the eastern shore. We saw 4 moose grazing. 11.5 miles and 1100 feet of elevation gain.
