AARSHIN KARANDE sings Raga Mayur Basant, a rare raga specialty to the Mewati Gharana, known for being the oldest and first in the Basant family of ragas. The first bandish in teentaal (16 beats) was composed by Sangeet Mahamahopadhyaya Pandit Maniram-ji. The second bandish in ektaal (12 beats) was composed by Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj-ji. BIO: Aarshin Karande is a disciple of Ustad Siraj Khan (disciple of Ustad Rais Khan) and Amit Kavthekar (disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain). He also learned with Sandeep Ranade "Naadrang" and Vasu Sundarraj (disciples of Pandit Jasraj). Karande studied at the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, London School of Economics, and the University of Washington (Bothell).
