"Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial." You've probably heard this verse used out of context, haven't you? The truth is, Paul wasn't saying that "anything goes," after all, sinning isn't permissible for a Christian. But he warns us about something profound: within our Christian freedom, there are attitudes that, even if not direct sins, are not beneficial to the life of the Church. In today's video, we'll discuss a very current phenomenon: The behavior of churches on social media. I'll react to some videos promoting youth services (Assemblies of God and Presbyterian Church) to discuss the limit between being creative and turning the message of the cross into a big "joke." I myself am someone who loves to joke, make ironic comments on Instagram, and "farm aura" on the internet. But public worship is not the place for that! Worship is a solemn gathering. The same applies to evangelism. When we go out to evangelize, it's not a "fun game"; it's a clash of armies against darkness! There's nothing funny about the crucified Christ. When we invite young people to church services or camps saying that "it's going to be fun and entertaining" (as if it were a summer camp), we distort the purpose of the gathering. We do need creativity (like the excellent example of the IPB video I show in React), but without emptying the reverence that God deserves.
