This time, I hiked the Shiinoki trail up Mount Ichii, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, known as Nagato's most famous mountain. While the trail along the valley is rough in parts due to heavy rain, the trail is clear and there's no risk of getting lost. There's a steep climb just below the summit, about 20 minutes in length, but from the summit you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama. This time, I hiked the Shiinoki route out and back, but you can also make a circular route by using Hanase Pass. However, it's recommended to allow an extra 2.5 to 3 hours for the hike compared to the out and back course. *After descending, you can also soak in Tawarayama Onsen, near the trailhead.
