De Weerbaarheidsafdeling (WA) – de Nederlandse zwarthemden van Anton Mussert en de NSB
The WA (Weerbaarheidsafdeling) was the resistance group of the NSB (National Socialist Movement), founded by Anton Mussert. These Dutch fascist Blackshirts marched in the streets and sang militaristic songs. Mussert later disbanded the WA. After the German invasion of the Netherlands and thus the start of World War II in the Netherlands (May 1940), the movement was revived. They were collaborators par excellence. Later, some members joined the Waffen-SS and left for the Eastern Front or enlisted in the Landstorm Nederland (Dutch Landstorm).
