I have do so over the course of my career. I record them here. Although it is spoken in the context of the Legal Profession and to Pupil - really - it is applicable, I think, it to every vocation: the manager, the teacher, the engineer, the doctor, the pharmacist, or indeed an investor. I hope you find this useful. Now as for the Legal Profession, if you are a trainee, as enter into training, what would you like to know? What is it like on the other side of the fence? What does a your supervisor or your pupil master expect of you? Today’s topic is ‘Words to a Trainee, over coffee’. A few months ago you were at the university; and now you are at the profession. What would your life be like for the next few months? The Bar is not a local tavern, but a body of legal practitioners. A supervisor or a senior officer is only a guide. A trainee is not his or her slave. Here are 18 points for you to ponder. While it will not always be a pleasant journey, it will not be an uneventful one.
