During the trial against gas station owner Rick Chow, witness Devonte Bryant testified he saw Cyrus stumble while running from Chow and his son before the teen was shot. Bryant told jurors Cyrus appeared to be trying to get away and did not have anything in his hands besides a backpack. During cross-examination, defense attorneys questioned Bryant about inconsistencies in earlier statements he gave police.
